About Us

Tucked away in the picturesque village of Somerford Keynes, just a short stroll from Lower Mill Estate, The Baker’s Arms has been at the heart of the community for centuries. Now lovingly managed by the Paxton family, the owners of Lower Mill Estate, the pub’s revival is the fulfilment of a long-held family dream - to create a welcoming space where locals, guests, and visitors can come together to enjoy great food, good company, and a true sense of community.

At the helm are Ruth and Paul May, a warm and experienced duo known for their success at The George Pub in Kempsford, with Ruth having also worked in Ballihoo at Lower Mill Estate. And now with Paul as Head Chef, the duo's passion for hospitality shines through in every dish, every pint, and every warm welcome at the door.

This charming Grade II listed pub, steeped in history - its origins trace back to the 15th century, when it was once a bustling bakery – it is even believed to contain a baker’s oven, hidden behind one of the walls, waiting to be rediscovered. By the 18th century, The Baker’s Arms had transformed into an inn, its beautiful Cotswold stone walls standing the test of time and adding to its cosy, timeless appeal.

The Baker’s Arms is more than just a pub; it’s a place where memories are made. We’ll be hosting quiz nights, live music, and seasonal events to bring people together, ensuring there’s always something to look forward to.

With close ties to Lower Mill Estate, The Baker’s Arms embodies the Paxton family's dedication to community and passion for fresh, local and high-quality dining.
